Massage Techniques

THE 10 GOLDEN RULES: 1- Before starting, take the time to relax, breathe slowly to free your body and mind. 2- Dim the lights and noise. Unplug the phone: there's nothing more annoying than a phone ringing when you're in the middle of a massage. 3- Forget your "little insecurities": couple massage is based on mutual trust. It's not the time to ask your partner if they find you fat or if they like the shape of your feet. 4- Remove your jewelry and make sure your nails aren't too long: they could hurt your partner. 5- It's not advisable to give or receive a massage after a heavy meal. 6- If you're too tired, leave the massage for later. 7- Avoid, when giving the massage, scars or varicose veins. 8- Try to be attentive to what your partner desires: avoid planning an attack strategy even before starting. They might like certain gestures and not others. You have to improvise. 9- Vary the techniques: stroking, kneading, "pretissage"... 10- Forget all your worries and relax.
TECHNIQUES:
STROKING
Stroking is the manipulation used at the beginning and end of a massage. Its action is essentially relaxing. To proceed with this technique, place your hands on the body or face of the person you're going to massage, with fingers extended and thumbs pressed together. Gently caress without applying pressure. You can use stroking to give a massage to the whole body.
PRETISSAGE
It involves taking a muscle mass and squeezing it with your fingers. Use only your thumbs and fingertips. This technique is suitable for fleshier areas: it releases muscle fibers and activates circulation.
KNEADING
It's the most dynamic method. You use all your fingers to release muscle tension. Lift the flesh with one hand and then twist with the other, using your thumbs for support. This technique is especially suited for the hips and buttocks.
PERCUSSION
It's done by lightly tapping the part of the body you want to relieve with your hands, keeping your wrists flexible. Percussion can be done in several ways: shading (hands are vertical), striking (wrists closed), or tapping (with fingertips). Use this technique for the back, hips, and buttocks.
TIGER'S MOUTH
This name comes from the V position obtained by separating the thumb and index finger. This technique allows, after stroking, to move up along the muscles, applying pressure. This technique is especially suitable for the legs and torso.
