A Legendary Surprise

My boyfriend is from another country, and to surprise him, I arranged to meet him at a typical spot in the city (Granada) under the pretense of just meeting up. We got in a taxi, and once inside, I blindfolded him and handed the driver a note with the destination written on it.
We got off at the Carmen de los Mártires of the Alhambra, where I led him to the French garden. Once there, I removed the blindfold and, kneeling in front of the fountain, I told him a legend that had taken place right there by Washington Irving, titled "The Legend of the Three Princesses."
I'll never forget the look on his face when I took him to that paradise, nor the taxi driver who took us, who, even though he didn't know me at all, conspired with me to keep him from knowing where we were going.
