Gifting Clothes

Difficulty Medium 0-25 €

Sometimes we don't know what to give our partner, so we often resort to buying them some clothes. If you're someone who feels that it's a somewhat impersonal gift, what we can do is personalize it.

To do this, we'll need to buy a piece of clothing (a t-shirt, socks, underwear…). In this example, we'll use a t-shirt, so we buy a basic t-shirt without any designs. You can find one at any clothing store for about 4 to 10 euros. I recommend choosing cotton. We'll also need fabric paint, which you can get at any craft store for 2-3 euros. Next, search online for a design that means something to your partner or that you simply like. It's important that the design is simple, with bold lines, to allow for any painting errors. Print it out and trace the outline of the design with chalk (a different color than the t-shirt). Place it face down on the t-shirt, pressing with your hand as if it were a stamp. Once you remove the paper, you'll see that the design has been transferred to the t-shirt, and that's when you can start painting. You'll need a bit of patience here. After painting, let the paint dry for about two hours, then turn the t-shirt inside out and iron it so the paint doesn't wash out. (This may vary depending on the brand of paint). Feel free to share your photos of the t-shirts, pants, socks, or whatever you've painted on the forum!

Here are some examples of how some of my t-shirts turned out.
